: During the week of May 2, 2016 – May 6, 2016 all elementary schools in Clay County will be registering kindergarten students for the 2016-2017 school year. To enter kindergarten, a child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2016, verified by a registered birth certificate (Florida Statute 1003.21.) Clay County policy has no provision for early admission to kindergarten.
Florida’s Compulsory Immunization Law requires that, prior to entry, attendance or transfer; all children comply with the state adopted immunization schedule (Florida Statute 1003.22). For the 2016-2017 school year, DH Form 680 (or Religious Exemption DH Form 681) is the only acceptable immunization certificate for admittance to a public or non-public school, grades Pre-K through 12. The Form 680 can be obtained from your doctor or the Clay County Health Department. The Form 681 can be obtained from the Clay County Health Department.
A child may be certified as fully immunized if he/she has completed, prior to entry, the following vaccinations:
· 4 or 5 doses of Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DtaP) vaccine
· 2 or 3 doses of Hepatitis B (Hep B) vaccine—requires 6 months to complete
· 3, 4 or 5 doses of Polio vaccine *
· 2 doses of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine
· 2 doses of varicella vaccine †
* If fourth dose of vaccine is administered prior to fourth birthday, a fifth dose of polio vaccine is required for kindergarten entry only.
† Varicella vaccine is not required if varicella disease is documented by health care provider
A school physical examination performed within one year prior to the first day of enrollment is also a required requirement.
In addition to health documentation and proof of date of birth, you will need multiple proofs of residency. Some items required for proof of residency (3 - 4 required) are driver’s license/Florida i.d. with current address, current utility bills, mortgage or rental agreement, and insurance, credit card or bank statements. A complete list of registration requirements is available on the Parent page of our District website at: http://www.oneclay.net/parents.html
Registration is not considered complete without ALL required documents.
Parents may register their children at any time during the week of May 2, 2016 – May 6, 2016; this early registration will enable all involved to do a better job in planning for the next school year. We encourage parents to take advantage of this early registration opportunity.

We are now entering a very significant time of the year for public schools in Florida. All public schools will be accountable for administering the FSA test to their students during the month of April. These are a series of tests for 3rd-10th grade students in Math, Science, Language Arts and Writing. The results of these tests will determine the school grade, funding, and in some cases, the amount of influence the state legislature maintains over a particular school. McRae Elementary received a designation of “B” for the 2014-2015 school year which was up from a “C” the previous year. If you are interested in viewing the disaggregated achievement and assessment data, you may do so by inquiring about this information in the front office. The teachers and students of McRae Elementary have worked very hard throughout the year in preparation for this event. The FSA Writing test will be on March 1st and students and teachers expressed that they feel confident that the results will be positive. While we also feel confident that the remainder of the test will be met with positive results, I am reminding you to provide your student with an environment that will give them the best chance for success. Parents can help in the following ways:
1. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
2. Make sure your child eats a good breakfast each morning.
3. Make sure your child arrives at school on time with a good attitude.
4. Talk with your child about the test in an encouraging way. Let your child know you understand that tests can be difficult, but you are sure he/she will do their best.
Your involvement and attention will make a big difference to your child and have a positive effect on their performance. Thank you for your attention and dedication.
Attention Parents/Guardians: The 2015-2016 Title I Parent Survey is now available online through May 31st. A link has been posted on McRae’s Facebook page, so please help us to serve you better and complete this at your convenience. Thank you.
I am requesting that parents help us to provide our students with the safest, securest school possible by adhering to the following:
Please do not drop off your child before 8:15 unless they attend the Pryme Time or Tutoring programs. We are not prepared to supervise them before this time.
Reminder: While students are allowed to have cell phones at school, they are not to be visible or used during the school day. We are currently experiencing violations of this policy by students and I am requesting parents and guardians to talk with your child concerning this policy. Thank you.
Parents/Guardians/Business Partners: Ameris Bank’s School Spirit Program is a unique opportunity for our school to earn additional funds!
